On July 3, 2008, Bio-Works portfolio data were presented at the Third International Confrence "Food and Marine Biotechnology - Current Status and Prospectives" held in Svetlogorsk (Kaliningrad Region), Russian Federation on July 3 - 4, 2008. The invited plenary lecture: "Trends and Methods in Dairy Biotechnology and in Selected Areas of Food Biotechnology: Separation solutions for valuable milk and egg components", was presented in cooperation with GH BioQuenta Consulting (Dr. Gabriel Halát), Vienna, Austria, and Shijir International Co.Ltd., Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.The conference was organized by the Russian Society of Biotechnologists, Kaliningrad State Technical University, Governement of Kalinigrad Region in cooperation with Bio-NCP, a National Contact Point in Russia for the European Community´s 7th Framework Programme (2nd Priority - Biotechnology, agriculture and food, www.fp7-bio.ru) as well as by the Russian Union of Biotechnology Enterprises. The conference was a forum for coordination and harmonization of the participation of Russia in the EU 7th FP (Platform: Biotechnology, Agriculture, Fisheries and Food).
From June 23 to 27, 2008, Bio-Works participated and co-sponsored the III Latin American Seminar of Cell Culture Technologies held in Havana, Cuba. This seminar brought together not only Latin American but world experts and companies to address a seminar entitled "Industrial Animal Cell Technology for Biopharmaceutical Process". Jan Berglof, Business Development Director of Bio-Works participated with a presentation "New Agarose Media for Industrial Purification of Bio-pharmaceutical Products".
On April 25, 2008, Bio-Works was presented at EurasiaBIO 2008, the First International Congress on Biotechnology, Bioenergy and Bioeconomy, held in Moscow, Russia Federation, on April 24 - 25. 2008. The presentation was in cooperation with GH BioQuenta Consulting (Dr. Gabriel Halát), Vienna, Austria, giving a talk on: "WorkBeads™: Leading Edge Agarose Based Chromatography Media for the Life Science, Food, Dairy, Beverage and Environmental Biotechnology". The Congress was organized by Yu. A. Ovchinnikov Russian Society of Biotechnologists under auspices of the Board of Trustees of the "National Program of Biotechnology Development in Russia" in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, as well as by the National Biofuel Association of Russia. Among major partners were Bio-NCP, a National Contact Point in Russia for the European Community´s 7th Framework Programme (2nd Priority - Biotechnology, agriculture and food -www.fp7-bio.ru), Mid Atlantic - Russia Business Council (MARBC, www.ma-rbc.org) and others. The Congress also provided a forum for initial discussion of Euro - Asian Cooperation in Biotechnology, and brought together participants from the European Union, China, India, Kazakhstan, Turkey, USA and other countries.
On April 9, 2008, Jan Berglof, Business Development Director Biotech will present a talk on "Agarose: A journey from sophisticated research tool to highly productive material for industrial seperation of biomolecules". It is will be held at NIZO Food Research BV in Ede, Holland and organized by the Downstream Processing of the Dutch Biotechnology Association.
